FOOD PAIRINGS: red meat, stewed meat lentils, chocolate cakes and desserts.Stouts were born in Ireland to compete with London Porters, which used brown malts to make their stouts. In Ireland, on the other hand, they started using roasted malts that gave a more intense flavour but created a beer that was easier to drink than the London Porters, which were very dense due to the large amount of brown and caramel malts used to give them their black colour.
This is a dark beer with pronounced roasted flavours ranging from roasted caramel and coffee to dark chocolate. The balance with the hops helps to make the beer more refreshing and provides a mild bitterness.
